Ranunkel Records is a new record label based in Switzerland for experimental and innovative music.
Its goal is to promote progressive music and make exploration off the mainstream possible and be released to be heard by a wider audience. There are no boundaries. The will to explore is the connection of all this music. The aim is to create some kind of vessle, a community for people interested in this musical idea.Founded in June 2020 in Oberburg (Bern) and now based in the city of Bern since 2021, Ranunkel Records is young label, with an already very eclectic artist variety.

POLYHEDRON - Uhrenvergleich

Polyhedron ist die Idee der Symbiose von Mensch und Maschine. Elektronische Klangflächen werden durch die Achsen der Instrumente zusammengehalten und geformt. Die Musik spinnt ihre Bahnen durch rhythmisch klare Formen mit einem Faden von freier Improvisation, der unvorhergesehene Wendungen und neue Muster in das Geflecht bringt.
Mit „Uhrenvergleich“ veröffentlichten sie im August 2020 ihre erste EP in CD-Form und Online.

Luca Koch ist junger Luzerner Sänger, Stimmkünstler und Komponist, der mit diesen vier Minuaturen für Gesang/Spoken Voice und Streichquartett sein Debut veröffentlicht. Vier kurze Textstücke voller Lyrik und Geheimnisse werden durch die Kompositionen getragen und verbunden, erläutert und hinterfragt.
Nach dem Online Release wird eine kleine Auflage in Schallplattenform veröffentlicht.

FBI - Camper Paradise

For years, this "folle fanfare" has been haunting the streets of Switzerland for festivals and events with an inexplicable mix of pseudo-balkan-brass-band and marching secret agents that sell you survival food and arrive on a bicycle.
Living in a camper together for two weeks in summer 2020 to play music for a theatre production in Sion (CH), they decided to record their first EP "Camper Paradise" ...inside that very camper.

Having to postpone their initial tour in april 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic, they recorded one song remotely, each one in their homes. The outcomes is a powerful song about the unsettling double-standards of the times we live in.

„Both“ heisst das neue Album des Schweizer Komponisten und Saxophonisten Marc Jufer. Auf einer Doppel-LP erscheinen nun Werke auf Vinyl, die in Zusammenarbeit mit zahlreichen improvisierenden Musikern aus der Schweiz entstanden sind. Während des Lockdowns lud Jufer verschiedenste Musiker ein, mit ihm Duo-Aufnahmen zu machen. Das Ergebnis ist eine wunderschön-abwechslungsreiche, farbenfrohe Sammlung von Stücken, zusammengehalten durch das mal verträumt schreitende, mal wild-expressionistische Saxophonspiel des Initiators. Die Stücke sind so unterschiedlich, wie die Duopartner. Jedes steht für sich selbst und ist doch wie eine kleine Galaxie innerhalb dieses Klang-Universums von „Both“. Abtrakt doch zugleich klar ist das Cover-Artwork von Marylène Jufer, der Gattin des Komponisten, welches als Poster dieser Doppel-LP beiliegt.

TROP - People And Places

Dark, mysterious and dreamlike… TROP´s first single „People And Places“ features a slow beat and bassline over which the voices hover, only to melt with the synths and then redissappear. A slow triphop-synthpop style soundscape defines TROP (Laura Schuler, Josephine Nagorsnik).
During one of the numerous lockdowns, the two musicians took their time to start working on their sound universe together, channelling the weight of the circumstances through musical ideas. The first result of this collaboration is „People And Places“ (Ranunkel Records 2022), their debut release, followed by their second single very soon.

FBI - Haunted Boat

Ein Schiff, das über den Neuenburgersee treibt. Ohne Besatzung… ein Geisterschiff. Was hat es damit auf sich? Als die Pandemie alle Festivals verunmöglichte, verwandelte sich FBI, die „Fanfare Balkanique Illimitée“ in die „Fanfare Balnéaire Illimitée“. 2021 könnten doch Konzerte möglich sei: Vom Schiff aus, natürlich! Die Band als Besatzung an Bord eines Segelschiffes, während das Publikum mit Pedalos zum Ort des Spektakels angeschippert kommt. Alles war organisiert, Konzerte auf dem Wasser in Kooperation mit den Pedalo-Vermietungen und Tourismusvereinen der jeweiligen Orte … da machte ihnen das Wetter einen Strich durch die Rechnung: Das erste Mal, dass der Neuenburgersee Hochwasser hatte und somit eine Woche gesperrt war seit 50 Jahren, war natürlich ausgerechnet die Woche der geplanten Tour. Stattdessen nahm FBI diese neue EP auf. Haunted Boat. Sie erscheint am 10.06. und beinhaltet fünf neue Eigenkompositionen. Die Schiffstour auf dem Neuenburgersee wird übrigens dieses Jahr vom 10.-16.07.2022 nachgeholt!

De la Pop et du Jazz. De l’impro, de la surprise, de la rigueur, pas de concession.
Comme la nature, vital. Sa beauté et les émotions qu’elle suscite en nous. Sa douceur mais aussi sa force et sa rage.
Deep Green c’est la rencontre de trois musiciens aux parcours riches et différents qui se mélangent pour aller dans la même direction, directement à l’essentiel, dans la profondeur de nos ressentis.
Mais Deep Green aime les nouvelles expériences, le partage de sa musique et les rencontres qui poussent à se réinventer. Pour cet album ils ont le bonheur de parta- ger leur musique avec Martin Perret.
Martin joue de la batterie mais ne se contente pas du rôle rythmique que l’on pour- rait attendre de cet instrument. Sa batterie chante, sa batterie souffle, vibre, siffle, enrobe. Son jeu peu paraître discret mais il est tellement présent.
C’est tout en finesse et en musicalité que cette rencontre se fait, comme par évidence.

CHINZILLA - Pylon

CHINZILLA lives in a cave in a hill surrounded by buttons, knobs and faders. That’s where she creates the surreal, half electronic, half acoustic sound cosmos she navigates.
She shouts, sings, squeeks and operates signal flows through pedals and in form of zeroes and ones. A rusty old tube is her close companion, both of them rarely seeing the sun — also because her skin is super sensitive and would burn. She loves the world and its creatures, but is often puzzled by them.
She needed an outlet for all the confusion and structured it in songs.

JETZT wurde im Tonstudio Groovefactory in Bern in zwei Stunden
eingespielt. Die Stücke sind unbearbeitet und in der entstandenen
Reihenfolge belassen, wie ein Livekonzert, das im Jetzt stattfindet.
Andi Menrath (Wien) schöpft seine musikalische Inspiration aus der
Schönheit unseres Planeten. Er und Ursula Hofmann (Bern) sind
beide gerne in den Bergen unterwegs. Deshalb waren Titel aus
der Natur für die Stücke naheliegend.
Oft erkennt man nicht auf Anhieb, welcher Klang von welchem
Instrument kommt. Mal entsteht eine klangliche Einheit, mal lebt
die Musik von ganz gegensätzlichen Klängen: So bleibt das Erlebnis
beim Zuhören immer spannend und abwechslungsreich.
